Meaning of Christ's Death

First Part of Number Five Series of Christ Death
Vicarious

 - which means a substitute in bearing of our sins. Christ became the substitute for all sinners who died on the cross, because of man's sins, man is doomed to eternal death which means a complete separation from God in eternal punishment in hell. The Bible declares in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." No one is capable of saving himself from the judgment of hell because we don't have the strength and we are limited in our own ways to get right with God. And in Romans 6:23 it states there, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."All sinners will face death, this is the penalty man has to suffer for their rebellion towards God, but since there is a gift which God offers for those who believe, man need not face the danger of hell, there is hope and that is Christ Jesus our Lord.

Because of Jesus' love, He became the perfect sacrifice for sins, remember the Israelites when they committed sin against God, they offer various animals, grains or wheat to make right with God, however, their offerings has a temporal benefit and limited atonement. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross is final, complete and ultimate means of God to restore what was broken between His fellowship with man. Jesus did it all, He died as a lamb led to the slaughter, He died as a criminal, He died at the lowest form of humanity, He took all the pain, sin, guilt and all that there is to condemn He accepted it all, He was crucified on the cross, naked, and there was no beauty or comeliness in Him, He was tortured and violated by the sins of man, He carry the weight of the cross upon His shoulders and in His every step, His mind is filled with thoughts of you, how much He loves you that even in His glory in heaven, He left it in order to be with men, to walk humbly and live justly and later on to suffer the penalty of sins He never committed. This He do so that you and I should no longer face the judgment of the cross--the judgment of hell.

His love for humanity allowed Him to embrace the curse of sin and death, but His death has caused those who believe on Him to receive the gift of life, and eternal fellowship with God.
