NO GOD ALLOWED?

Kabataan Party List Representative Raymond Palatino is said to filed a House Bill entitled “Religious Freedom in Government Act”, at first, you may think that the bill is religious and pro-God but it simply states the banning of religious activities and other religious symbols within the government offices. This proposal from the representative threatens the religious freedom of every Filipino and should not be supported.

We have seen the moral decline of some of the western countries who fifty years ago a bunch of “looneys” suggested that prayers and Bible reading in public schools be prohibited. Now we have witnessed the effect of taking God out of the picture. Immorality, violence and economic decline continue to sweep through the nation. Furthermore, people chose Satan to rule over them rather than God; this is very evident in the spiritual condition of the people, thank God because there are some who are still standing on the Word of God battling to drive out the anti-Christ spirit in the society.

Seeing the fate of our brothers in other countries, we must be vigilant that such bill must not be permitted in our nation, especially now that our people are in the midst of poverty, godlessness and corruption. We have seen with our eyes the example of those nation who turned away from God, are we going to follow the same fate? The Bible says in Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” The only key to blessing is when people acknowledge the sovereignty of God whether it be in a family, a community or a nation, the only time we will receive healing is when we ask God’s forgiveness, turn from our evil ways and seek His face, then and only then will God hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land.

Our suffering is enough already, our young people are sold out to sex, slavery and abuse, our women suffered physical, emotional and mental cruelty, our men are forced to leave their family to serve other nations because of financial insufficiency in our own country, our economy is on its last legs, our education is poor and the wealthy people are sitting in their own homes despite their fellow people died because of sickness and destitution, not to mention the endless calamity that destroy lives and property leaving millions of victims hopeless and suffering.

These are the condition of our country, now if we are to take God out of the picture definitely our nation will not survive! The only time we have seen the blessings of God and His protection is when people pray, seek God and declare His lordship over our land. Remember when Abraham bargained with God to stop the impending judgment on Sodom and Gommorah should there be any righteous people living in it, God declared that He will not destroy the place for the sake of the righteous people, same way if we ban God in our government, we are prohibiting Him to meddle with our affairs thus coming out of God’s control and guidance, if we are to do this, people may tend to live according their own desires, just like a sheep who have gone astray. God is the Shepherd of the Filipino people, that’s the fact that all people must realized, we will never be able to survive until now if not for God’s favor and grace upon us.

Let’s look at the morale of the people, are they showing godliness? We have witnessed crimes one after another, dishonesty among government officials and war among Filipino people; these will definitely worsen if we will forbid the study of the Word of God—the compass and the lamp to direct us to fruitful and healthy living. For sure you don’t want the next generation of young people to live in a world where godlessness rule the nation, what kind of future are we preparing for our children, the times are already evil and it is frightening that our kids will grow up in a system where God is nowhere to be found. What a comfort it brings that in schools God and His word is taught as a basis of spiritual foundation---what a sick society if the schools are teaching superheroes, fairy tales and fantasy to our children! What a comfort it brings when people in the government are gathering together to pray and even study the Word of God, you will be assured that the people in the position are worthy of trust because the Bible is their guide for direction, decision and implementation of laws and policy---if not totally eradicated, at least there is a reduction in corruption.

God has promised the Israelites during the time of Moses before conquering the Promise Land, in Deuteronomy 6: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Living the Word of God, meditating it day and night are the keys of blessings and abundant provision, if we are to follow the words of God through Moses for the Israelites, we will not experience their fate—God turned them over to their enemies as a result of disobedience. God has promised blessings and life for those who will continue to live the Word of God. If you are a Christian, Catholic or Born Again, or even a Muslim, please do not conform nor be silent over this matter, our millions of voices will stop the removing of God in our government. God is our only hope, our chance to survive and our comfort!

May this also serve as a warning, should this bill be approved, now the government, tomorrow the entire nation…think and pray Filipinos!

Meaning of Christ's Death

First Part of Number Five Series of Christ Death
Vicarious

 - which means a substitute in bearing of our sins. Christ became the substitute for all sinners who died on the cross, because of man's sins, man is doomed to eternal death which means a complete separation from God in eternal punishment in hell. The Bible declares in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." No one is capable of saving himself from the judgment of hell because we don't have the strength and we are limited in our own ways to get right with God. And in Romans 6:23 it states there, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."All sinners will face death, this is the penalty man has to suffer for their rebellion towards God, but since there is a gift which God offers for those who believe, man need not face the danger of hell, there is hope and that is Christ Jesus our Lord.

Because of Jesus' love, He became the perfect sacrifice for sins, remember the Israelites when they committed sin against God, they offer various animals, grains or wheat to make right with God, however, their offerings has a temporal benefit and limited atonement. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross is final, complete and ultimate means of God to restore what was broken between His fellowship with man. Jesus did it all, He died as a lamb led to the slaughter, He died as a criminal, He died at the lowest form of humanity, He took all the pain, sin, guilt and all that there is to condemn He accepted it all, He was crucified on the cross, naked, and there was no beauty or comeliness in Him, He was tortured and violated by the sins of man, He carry the weight of the cross upon His shoulders and in His every step, His mind is filled with thoughts of you, how much He loves you that even in His glory in heaven, He left it in order to be with men, to walk humbly and live justly and later on to suffer the penalty of sins He never committed. This He do so that you and I should no longer face the judgment of the cross--the judgment of hell.

His love for humanity allowed Him to embrace the curse of sin and death, but His death has caused those who believe on Him to receive the gift of life, and eternal fellowship with God.

2nd Part - Atonement

Story Worth Telling...

We are sharing our story: story of love, joy, pain, sadness and grief which later on were replaced with hope, joy and contentment...if people are offended when I posted the pictures of my son, I do apologized, but the story behind it, how we are strengthened and find comfort, peace and satisfaction in the embrace of God, this is what we are telling. That life after a series of pain has its purpose, they have their mission in the life of every person, and the important thing is you have learned, became stronger and matured as you face new challenges in life. Be glad that you have not experienced what we have gone through, but one thing that God has taught me, we may not like the situation and the sorrow every loss can bring but He can still bring out the goodness from every pain you gain, every tear you cry and every failures you’ve faced, because in all these, His will and purpose will still remain. In our case, we have thanked God, moved on and are become stronger, what we want the world to know is there is hope, joy and comfort that you'll only find in God alone.

Isaiah 43:2 - 4
"When you pass to the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior...
...Since you are precious in my sight and because I love you."

Jeremiah 17:7 - 8

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”

A Father’s Day to Forget?

People all over the world may have been celebrating Father’s Day. Cards, flowers and other presentations were given to commemorate all fathers of the world. Fathers definitely enjoy this occasion for once in a year; tributes were given to fathers for all their hard-work, love and care they express for their family. But, my husband is different, he doesn’t anticipate this celebration, for him it brings pain for the memory of our child, Matthew Joash.

Our son was born June 17, 2004. We were so excited for the coming of our firstborn child because after a series of failed pregnancies, finally our prayers were answered. My husband fulfilled my entire request during my pregnancy, I would asked him to buy me mangoes, jackfruit and papaya which I craved so much and not only that, I requested white spaghetti which I remembered my favorite snack during the first 3 months of pregnancy. We bought a lot of child stuffs from feeding bottles, to baby clothes and other items a child needs.

Since my pregnancy was delicate I was forced to stay at home and in bed for almost nine months, my husband was there all along to support me, he pampered me all the way despite his work schedule, I truly am bless to have him and I can see that he will become a wonderful father to our expecting child.

I was advised by my doctor that my due was on first week of August, but we were so surprised that my water-bag broke; it was only June 16 then. We were so alarmed; they took me immediately to the hospital, we were waiting for the doctor’s advised whether I would be delivering my child that early or I just need a medicine to stop the flow of water, but the doctor said that by tomorrow they will be performing a caesarian operation to get the baby. I will never forget our excitement upon hearing the news not knowing that there is a complication involved on the baby’s condition.

During the operation, the moment the baby was taken out of me, the doctor showed his face to me, I remembered his pinkish color and the frown on his little face, I was so happy and thrilled to hold him, I just heard that he was taken directly to ICU for closer monitoring, I don’t know at that time why, but I just closed my eyes and prayed and thanked God because finally, the little child inside me, moving here and there was finally out, now I can hold and caress him! I was so delighted thinking how my husband would react as he sees our baby – because our son looks just like him!

When I was transferred to the room, my husband was there as well as my doctor and the pediatrician, they were discussing something, I never heard anything but when my husband approached me, he was worried. I asked him how’s our baby because I heard a baby cried next door, for our room was next to the ICU, he just asked me to sleep, but I insist to get the child because I wanted to see him, he told me that I will soon see him but I need to rest first.

It was only then that I realized that he was hiding something, he doesn’t want me to know that our child was dying and fighting to survived, our doctor advised us that his lungs was not prepared that’s why he was suffering from complications, in other words he could not make it. The doctor said that they tried everything they can to keep him alive but the only life support he was getting was the oxygen support and some medicine that could keep his heart beating.

I insisted to see him, together, my husband and I went to the ICU, we were heartbroken to see him lying and his little body which was pinkish when I saw him was now turning blue, I touched him for a moment, and I asked him if he can’t hold it any longer, if he can fight still, if he can survive for mommy and daddy…it seems that when I was looking at him, I heard a small voice in my heart, asking me to let him go, “I love you mom, dad…I’m happy to see you and I will never forget you.” I burst into tears, we prayed, we asked for God’s comfort and strength, then with a soft voice I told him, “Alright Matthew, it’s ok to let go, thank you for coming into our life, for being a son to us for almost eight months and thank you for fighting just in time so we could touch you before you go to heaven.” Upon saying that, the doctor declared him dead just after a few seconds we prayed.

Upon going back to our room, he asked me, “Do you know what day is today?” he was looking straight in my eyes, then he sat beside me, I answered him I don’t know, then he looked down, “It’s June 17, today, the world is celebrating Fathers’ Day, and we are mourning for the death of our baby, I never forget my husband’s face, he was so strong, he never cried, he comforted and supported me but deep down I can feel his pain and longing to hold our son. I asked him why he didn’t cry, he told me “I want to be your strength, if I would cry I might weaken your spirit.”

So every time Fathers’ Day is approaching, I can feel his uneasiness, as if he wants to escape, I can’t blame him…because he will never forget the pain of seeing our son died on Fathers’ Day, I empathize with him…he loves our son so much, he wants to be a father, he wants to express his love, care and support, maybe teaching him to play basketball, ride a bicycle or play pony ride, to carry him on his shoulders, tickle him and play pillow fights before going to bed. If he was alive, he’s already eight years old and in grade two in elementary level. I missed him so much and I want to hold him and tell him how much he means to me and I know my husband felt the same way.

He may not have a chance to do these for Matthew, I am still looking at him as a good father, how he cared for me during my pregnancy – he cared for our son, how he provided for my cravings – he provided for his food, how he bought those baby stuffs – he welcomed him into our life. For me he is the best father in the world, because short time as it is, that short time he spend with me and Matthew is worth spending and living, he sent him to heaven with a memory of how good and wonderful father he is, Matthew is thankful to God because he have him as his father and maybe he is whispering to God’s ears for another baby gift. For Matthew, a Fathers’ Day is special day and it will never be forgotten.

Pacquiao's Defeat: God Meant It for Good!

The whole Philippines and even the people from different areas of the world who have witnessed how talented our boxing champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, were all out support to him that even the Christian community and the rest of his supporters were and still backing him up in prayers especially during the fight. As usual, our boxing champion impresses us with his powerful and quick punches that landed a solid hit on Timothy Bradley, who at the same time was trying his best to topple the welterweight division champion.

During the fight, we were a hundred percent definite that once again Mr. Pacquiao will bring home the championship belt for he ruled the game during the solid eight rounds based on the announcers’ assessment and how the game was played, however, we were in shock and in dismayed when the winner was announced, Mr. Pacquiao lost the game and Bradley on the other hand was in shock to hear the decision. We were questioning the bases of the judges’ decision because we find it unacceptable that our all time boxing champion Mr. Pacquiao lost.

There was an obvious conspiracy when the decision was given, for even Mario Lopez, who after the fight interviewed the two, confirmed that Mr. Pacquiao landed most of the solid punches on his opponent. According to Yahoo News article I’ve just read…

“Yahoo Sports scored it 117-11 for Pacquiao, the same as Tim Dahlberg of the Associated Press and Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Dan Rafael of ESPN had it 118-110 for Pacquiao. HBO’s Harold Lederman had it 119-109, or 11 rounds to one, for Pacquiao.

“This is the death knell for boxing, and I’m going to make a ton of money on the rematch,” Arum said. Pacquiao landed 253 of 751 punches, a connect rate of 34 percent. Bradley landed 159 of 839, a connect rate of just 19 percent. On top of that, Pacquiao seemed to land the most powerful shots.” – (Reported by Kevin Iole, Yahoo Sports)

Now the questions are how would Mr. Pacquiao face his defeat? What would be the effect of this lost to his fans who supported him all throughout, especially now that he has changed his faith? I’ve read comments from people on facebook, some people declared that Mr. Pacquiao lost because he’s no longer holding onto his rosary, what he just have is the sign of the cross…I think Mr. Pacquiao fought well and hard and from the people’s votes, he is the remaining champion. After accepting his defeat, he displayed a humble spirit and sportsmanship. His lost is not the issue but his heart, the rosary and other religious items were never his lucky charms why he won numerous boxing titles, he won because God highly favored him and even if he lost against Bradley, God’s favor is still upon him.

God allowed defeat, failure and loss, these factors are important to develop and mold the person’s character and most importantly his faith in God. We pray that this defeat will serve as God’s instrument to thoroughly manage and handle his life, family and career. We never doubted his talent; we knew in our hearts that he did win in the fight, however, this event in his boxing career may gain numerous criticisms from different people who were against in his change of faith.

Some people are skeptic about his new found relationship with God, but let’s look at the testimony of his family and friends, they testified that he’s a changed person, he’s more focused, humble, and he prioritized his family and career well. And not only that, he valued the Word of God more than anything in this world. Being defeated is not a mark of complete loss, he may have lost the fight but he is a winner in God’s eyes…God may have prepared something better for him, something better than the championship belt, and I do hope that he realizes this, gaining favor from God is the highest success a man could ever achieved! Now that’s a real winner!

We highly salute Mr. Pacquiao, win or lose, he has done well to represent his country and because of him Philippines have earned its place in the hearts of people worldwide – a country where victors were born. It is our fervent prayer that this defeat will serve its purpose in the life of Mr. Pacquiao, his family, friends and supporters.

Mr. Pacquiao, people may criticize you, but God has prepared something better for you, something wonderful, we do hope that you look beyond this defeat and consider it an opportunity for God to show and do wonders in your life better than the championship belt. Always remember that whether good or bad, God meant it for good to those who love Him. We are looking for a rematch, yes indeed, but we do hope that the rematch will not be for revenge but for the sake of fighting for the glory of God!

Please Help!!!

Hey everyone! Just want to hear from you...I was doing some evaluation on myself and God made a tremendous impression in me and I would like to share this with you. Hope you will participate and be open to what God wants to do for your life as a person: The first question that I want you to answer is:
1.      What areas in your life that need changed?
a.     Before you answer the question, ask God prayerfully to reveal to you the areas that need change, areas that there is a struggle with sin and temptation. Now you don’t need to elaborate, you have the option to keep it to yourself or to spill it out, what is important is that you are fully aware about the things in your life that greatly needs help, one step to recovery and victory is the acknowledgment that you need help and change in that particular area of your life.
b.     When I was praying last night, God revealed to me that I need help with setting priorities, I found myself struggling which task or activities that I need to accomplish first, that’s one, second, I need help with my endurance, pride and thought pattern. These are the things that slow me down and I need your support to pray for me that I will be victorious in mastering my character and be honed in the likeness of Jesus.
c.     This is not an easy task but when you come to the full awareness of your struggles and personal difficulties the next step is easier to accomplish. Of course, we need to pray; meditate on God’s Word and focus on Jesus alone, for when we are busy looking at the people around us and their weaknesses and strength we will be blinded by our own weaknesses.

2.      What books in the Bible, verses or chapters that will be able to help me overcome my personal difficulties? Who are the characters in the Bible that struggled with the same struggles that I have? What have I learned from their experiences?
a.     In these questions, you will be able to mediate on the Word of God, you will improve and develop a healthy way to read and study the Word of God effectively thus providing God the way to teach and guide you through the process and on your end, you’ll be able to make a practical analysis and application of what you have learned. Again, the key is prayer in order to make this happen, you don’t want to jump from one book to another, ask God to lead you as you study His Word, God is very much excited to interact with us in our quiet time with Him, all you need to do is be open and obedient to follow His will.

I will be leaving these questions for you to answer, you may write your answers on the comment box below, (of course I do respect areas that need to be kept between you and God,) in so doing, we will be able to help each other by starting a prayer group, we will pray for everyone who will be participating and please once you are already in the process or you have started doing the evaluation, don’t forget to  drop by to give us feedback on how you are doing. Let’s strengthen each other by praying for one another…so that the Body of Christ is equipped and empower until the day of His coming! Hope to hear from you! =D

Junior Youth: History Makers!!!

The Junior Youth just finished another seminar facilitated by Pastor Irene Barola yesterday. The topic mainly discussed about the state of being ungodly in the last days and as Christians how can we become godly in this unchristian world.

The passage was taken from 2nd Timothy chapter 3 verses 1 to 5; the signs mentioned in this chapter are indeed evident in our times today and so as Christians we need to make a difference by being different not to go with the flow. We need to be distinct in our speech, actions, thoughts, (even though no one can see them, God can read through one’s mind so be aware,) our choice of music, our fashion and even our lifestyle. We must be mindful on how we live because the days are coming to an end where evil will rule the hearts of men and forget God.

Revival must begin at home through the parents and therefore continue in the church until it flows through our community and the world. We may not be able to win all but at least we win some for Christ. We are not going to wage war using the weapons of this world but with the weapons God has given us to ensure victory. Pray, read and be one with the Word, and practice and live as the children of Light to attract men from darkness into His marvelous light.

Of course we don’t know the path these junior youths will take, but it is our prayer that the messages spoken to them will not be wasted, our only hope is the verse in the Bible that says, “…so is My word that goes out from My mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it,” Isaiah 55:11.

We do not lose heart, we can see brighter future of these next generation of young people in the Church, just stay connected with God and be disconnected with satan’s tentacles before he entangled you and pull you down to the pit. Stand, rise and change the course of history Junior Youth! We believe in you and God believes in you…do not fail Him!

A Date with God?

What if God invited you to a date? What would you do? Would you make early preparations or last minute arrangements? Would you wear your best dress or just a shabby clothes from your unearthed closet or just your usual dress? Would you impress Him with your intellectual chat or simply be yourself? Would you be honest or would you make up stories just to amaze Him?

When I was thinking of an additional post to my blog, I was praying that God would give me a topic, since we just finished our “Love Can Wait” seminar for the teens, I asked myself, “how about a topic that deals with priorities,” it struck me clearly, since we discussed not to focus on the relationship at an early age, I said why not focus on God as the center of everything, since most of the teens with ages ranging from 12 to 17 are already serious about going in a relationship and because of their immaturity they tend to choose the wrong things as long as it feels good as of the moment, those ideas motivated me to choose this topic.

Sometimes, we are too concerned with our personal life that we take God for granted, we go to church at the last part of the program and go home hurriedly for our next appointment, and we don’t want to be late! Sometimes we just give God the residue of our time, we never talk to Him, we never listen, we never care…but when we have burdens we ran to Him and cast all our cares, being a good God He is, He lift up our burdens and we are relieved not because we deserve it but because of His loving-kindness and mercy!

I was wondering, what if we are invited to a date by our crush, a famous celebrity, our boyfriend or girlfriend or a politician? Of course you will go to the parlor and have a professional fix your hair and makeup, bring out or even buy the finest clothes just to look impressive on your date, and I’m pretty sure you are going to make early preparations so as not to miss a tiny bit of details such as your eyebrows, perfume, shoes and even the color of valise to match with your clothes, everything is so in depth just to make the date perfect!

What about going out on a date with God? Would you do the same? Would you give God the treatment you gave to your earthly date? Going out with God requires a thorough preparation, not just physically, emotionally, mentally most of all spiritually. We need to prepare our inmost being for our spiritual preparation will manifest physically. When there’s an invitation to a date, we check the schedule, the day and time set, and then we make early preparations for it. Of course going out with God is different, we’ve been given ample time for our personal matters, so it’s not too much if God would ask at least a fraction of your time just to spend with Him. Some Christians failed to see that we need God for we don’t have a chance to survive in this world without Him, it’s by His grace why we continue to experience insurmountable blessings, blessings we don’t deserve but given by His grace. God doesn’t need man, because, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.” (Psalms 24:1), He is the owner and man is compared to a grass or even a dew, in just a moment it is gone. So if you are to meet with God be at least 15 to 30 minutes early, come excitedly because when you arrived late, it shows disinterest and surely it would offend God because He’s there all along waiting eagerly for you.

Next is, when you are going out on a date, you shower yourself, maybe most of you stayed in the bathroom for 2 hours, I myself spend 45 minutes to 1 hour just to make sure that I am clean, not only sanitized but freshly scented. That’s my date preparation with my husband, now if we will be dating God, we should be cleansed inside and out, our hearts, minds and everything within us must be holy before God, we must present ourselves acceptable before Him, remember, God is a holy God and anything impure before Him is unacceptable. God is pleased with those who are pure in heart, purity doesn’t mean sinlessness but it means striving to live in unity with the will of God in your life, honoring God with your speech, thoughts and actions. Now indeed, this is crucial, but the fact that it is more crucial to live a sinful life because it will lead to eternal punishment in hell, than to live at peace with God whereby there is a promise of eternal life with Him…the choice is yours.

The next idea is also related to the foregoing paragraph, wearing a garment fitted for a royal date with a King. For most women, we dress to kill, we make sure that our dress speaks for us; same way in meeting with God on a date, we should not just wear any shabby clothes or our usual dress. We need to make ourselves presentable if we are going out with the King, a verse in Isaiah states that, God Himself will clothe His people with the garments of praise, that He may be glorified…let’s see to it that we are always wearing this garment so that people will see that we are clothed with the righteousness of God, thereby giving praise to Him.

Lastly, don’t make any pretensions, unlike our ordinary dates; we can pretend someone else that we are not, God can see through us, He knows our frame, He knew everything about us and He is not impressed with intellectual chats. God wants us to come before Him just as we are no reservations, no superficial affectations. God is more concerned with what He can do for us; He is willing to discuss with us His plans, His promises and His unconditional love not only that He wants to know how we feel, our insights, our plans and even our dreams. These will not be made possible if we are so busy trying to be somebody we are not, trying to cover up our shame. Come to Him just as you are, true, humble and excited, He doesn’t care about your physical appearance because He looks to the heart and He loves you just the way you are.

So the next time you’re going out on a date with God, be the best you can be because you are going out with the King of kings and don’t forget to make your date memorable! =D
